Centsless publishes The Nickel-to-Dime Problem, its third white paper
By Kyle Hatfield, CEO and Co-Founder, Daniel Hobin, CFO and Co-Founder, and Alex Ortega, CAIO and Co-Founder. Twenty states have enacted cash-rounding laws since the last circulating penny was minted. Every one fixes the rounding increment at five cents, and none automatically adapts if the denomination changes again. The paper examines the operational trigger problem, the new midpoint created by dime rounding, and federal machinery that could provide the foundation for a more durable framework.
